If you feel tingling or numbness in your fingers or hand, you may have carpal tunnel syndrome. According to the Rheumatology Research Foundation, carpal tunnel syndrome affects between 4-10 million Americans.
Many people can use physical therapy to treat carpal tunnel, and surgery is not always needed. Try these 5 at home exercises to help relieve and prevent pain from carpal tunnel syndrome.
Finger Bend
Hold you hand straight with your fingers together. Slowly bend the top half of your fingers down and hold for 10 seconds. Repeat 3 times.
Prayer
Start by putting your hands together in a prayer position. Point your fingertips towards your waist and hold this pose for 30 seconds.
Wrist Flexor
Extend your arm straight with your palm facing the ceiling. Use your other hand to gently bend your wrist and hold this pose for 30 seconds.
Wrist Extensor
Put your arm straight out in front of you with your palm facing you. Bend your wrist towards you using your other hand and hold for 30 seconds.
Hand Squeeze
Extend your arm with your palm facing the ceiling. Hold a ball in your hand and squeeze it for 5 seconds. Repeat 5 times.
